Wayfaring Stranger

I am a poor wayfaring stranger
traveling through this world below
There’s no sickness, toil or danger
in that bright land to which I go
———————-
I’m going there to see my father
I’m going there, no more I roam
I’m just going over Jordan
I’m just going over home
———————-
I know dark clouds will gather ‘round me
I know my way is rough and steep
but golden fields arise before me
among the stars, their vigils keep
———————-
I’m going home to see my mother
she said she’d meet me when I come
I’m just going over Jordan
I’m just going over home
———————-
I wanna sing and tell my story
a song I hear deep in my soul
in concert with all those before me
before I leave this Earthly home
———————-
I’m going there to see the others
that passed before me one by one
I’m just going over Jordan
I’m just going over home
———————-
I’m just going over home
